Gathering Pictures [Hayes, 2002]

Post by 3278 »

So, what are we doing about these? I'm willing to collate and post them on the Gathering Pictures page again, but people will need to get them to me. Is that what we want to do?

I am very, very down with that. We need to be able to comment, dammit. :)

How do you want us to get you the photos?

I'll need to open an FTP server, I'd think. I have 2 FTPs, so that's not a problem. But e-mail limits don't allow for many images at once.

How about this: anyone who wants to send images, let me know, and I can make the FTP open to you, and make a directory for your images.

Currently, I've got the following pictures:

My own.
Dvixen's
Ice's
Jes'
Neuron's
and Pistons.

I'm not sure if it was your intention to dunk all the GenCon pictures online as well. I know I'd like them to be there. Anyway, if you could sock me an email with the login detials of your FTP, then I'll upload what I have.

You downloaded all of mine as well? Okay, saves me the trouble of uploading them to 32, I guess.

E-mail sent. I'd recommend waiting until this evening, if you can, to send them; right now, all of my bandwidth is being used to download 15 or so episodes of Buffy from some fellow with a T1. :)

Personally, I'd rather just have the Gathering pictures. If someone wants to host the GenCon pictures, cool, but this isn't a GenCon site, you know? :)

Once I get the pages built - which will take about an hour, since there's a template already - I'll open everything up for comments.

Fuckence. Sorry about that, I didn't know you wanted me to wait. I've got them up on your FTP now. Woops.

Okay, I've got the pictures, and I'll start work now.

I should note that I'll only be including pictures of the Gathering, and not, say, pictures of Seattle...DENNIS! :D I'll probably make a bunch of exceptions for pictures of people and that sort of thing, but we don't need 416 pictures of road trips and the convention floor, you know? It's a Gathering page.

Is that cool with everyone?

You will be going through the pics then, yes? I'm just going to send you everything and let you sort it out (like last year). Errr, when I get my pics developed that is...

I should note that, since the whole Gathering section of the site - old and new - will have to be rewritten, there will be some interruption of its, you know, existance. :) It'll also take a little longer than the hour I predicted earlier; with the sorting, and the rebuilt, it'll take a few days. But it'll get done; no worries.

Sounds cool. GenCon pics seem like a good idea if they are - as many of them are - just a continuation of the Mad Bulldrekker Wisconsin Rampage, in a slightly different locale. :)

I've got last year's pages moved over to our new server and recoded [Whew. Much work.] and the new pages are almost built. The format is there, I just have to sort, crop, resize, reoptimize, and place all of the images. Then we're ready for captions.

Control has a thread open in the Embassy for captions, and as soon as I'm done with the page, it'll be open for business.

Dennis, who took the pictures in the "consumption" folder? I'm not clear on that.

Sorry, that would be me. I tossed it over, not realizing I probably couldn't change the name of the folder on your server. Those were my pictures ready for public "consumption." Meaning that all the illicit blackmail material that made most of my pictures so great were still stored safely away from anyone else looking for some free favours that are righfully mine. :)

Say - Caz and I have found ourselves in possession of a disposable camera that was left in Cabin 8. Who's is it, eh?

If nobody claims it, we figure we'll just get the film developed and post up the pics. But, you know, figured I'd make sure I wasn't stepping on anyone's toes before I did so.

Sam finally managed to get her roll of film developed for the 2002 Gathering. I'll see to it that the photos will be online for general viewage tomorrow.

There will be...

...a picture of Marius looking up my skirt...

...a picture of Cash curiously holding a hand over someone's mouth...

...and more! :)

Erm... you know, I don't know that we ever did get that weird disposable camera's photos developed either.

Crap. They're probably in a box somewhere still.

Weird disposable? It wasn't one that was all hacked to shit with half the bits ripped off the outside was it? 'Cause if it was, I wouldn't bother wasting your money. I got slightly distracted/bored one day and started dismantling it - before I'd taken any pictures with it. :D

Welcome to today's installment of the Mooch Sleeps Around Photo Series. I'm sure you all enjoyed last week's "Mooch Sleeps Around The Grand Canyon" and "Mooch Sleeps Around The DC Subway." Today's photo is entitled, "Mooch Sleeps Around With Europeans And Transvestites."
There is then a need to guard against a temptation to overstate the economic evils of our own age, and to ignore the existence of similar, or worse, evils in earlier ages. Even though some exaggeration may, for the time, stimulate others, as well as ourselves, to a more intense resolve that the present evils should no longer exist, but it is not less wrong and generally it is much more foolish to palter with truth for good than for a selfish cause. The pessimistic descriptions of our own age, combined with the romantic exaggeration of the happiness of past ages must tend to setting aside the methods of progress, the work of which, if slow, is yet solid, and lead to the hasty adoption of others of greater promise, but which resemble the potent medicines of a charlatan, and while quickly effecting a little good sow the seeds of widespread and lasting decay. This impatient insincerity is an evil only less great than the moral torpor which can endure, that we with our modern resources and knowledge should look contentedly at the continued destruction of all that is worth having. There is an evil and an extreme impatience as well as an extreme patience with social ills.

The dude has an uncanny ability to just appear when and whereever a camera has its lens cap removed.

That aside, he kept me up till 5 in the morning putting that stuff on....it's not like I wasn't going to make sure that there weren't enough images to keep Her Grace happy. :lol
