Update: Gathering Financial

Post by Eva »

Good News
As of yesterday, April 16th, the financial side of our stay at the Hayes Resort is taken care of. The deposit of $850 has been made, thanks to the committed folk at http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/bdgathering/. The other half will be paid by 32 on arrival.

This is the situation: there are 17 beds in the cabins and 17 people on the mailing list, the first to confirm they were definitely coming to the Gathering. These people have already paid $50 for their stay. Seeing as how they were first to pay, they will get beds. This means that everyone subscribing to the mailing list and committing to going as of now, will need to bring his own mattress and/or sleeping gear. Don't worry, there's enough room to put us all up. You just need to bring your own stuff.

Now us at Planning aren't complete assholes just yet. We figured it would be a little on the unfair side of things to have air mattress folk pay the same as bed folk. That's why we're introducing this deal.

The Deal
The people who have already made their payment are paying a little under $8.50 per night per person. Everyone else will be paying $5 p/n p/p. Money gathered from this will pay for basic commodities such as breakfast foods, sodas, toilet paper, etc. Everyone attending the Gathering will be allowed to use these goods, because everyone paid for them, directly or indirectly. The alternative to Planning providing these goods is getting $2 off of everyone each morning to go get bread. Can you say: 'suck ass?'

Suggestions
As always, you can reply to this thread or message/e-mail any of us personally at the addresses listed below. I sincerely hope everyone agrees that this is a fair and relatively easy set-up. God knows we tried. ;o)

Don't tell anyone, but we pay him. He's our corporate pawn - and we love him for it.

I'd prefer rent a rook or rent a bishop.

(Was going to say something about rent a queen, but then thought that Sinsual would show up and say something blue.)

Would there be a problem with sleeping outside?

Though you could go to the "official place for asking questions", I do know that the Hayes website specifically prohibits tent camping. For further detail, you should probably bug 32. :)

I wasn't talking about a tent. I was just considering crashing outside. I might even use a blanket, lol. I'll ask 32 next time I see him, though.

The cabins have a porch, right? Least that's what I gathered from the pics. Wouldn't be hard to buy a $5 hammock and crash in that.

A hammock for $5? Crash is exactly what you'd do - downwards. Especially when five extra Bulldrekkers piled on top of you because you looked so peaceful...

I love the way you imply doubt there. Like it's not guaranteed?

Speaking of skeeters, what is Wisconsin's obsession with putting every damn building or city near a river or lake? The Resort? Next to a lake. Milwaukee? Next to Lake Michigan. Madison? Next to 3! lakes.

*gaps*gasp*pant*pant* I need to lie down now. :)

It's for winter - if your ice-fishing hut is too far from your house, you'll freeze to death before you can fish and drink beer.
