I got it. After two years of unemployment - a personal record - and living by questionable means, I finally have a job. A large grocery chain is transitioning their systems from UNIX to Windows, and I will be working mission control for the handover.
I got it. In your face, AK404!
Many thanks to my wonderful ex and close friend, Teja, who marched my ass into KForce in the first place. We did it!
Congratulations! Is this temporary or are you still on after the handover is done?
Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach, become critics. They also misapply overly niggling inerpretations of Logical Fallacies in place of arguing anything at all.

There is then a need to guard against a temptation to overstate the economic evils of our own age, and to ignore the existence of similar, or worse, evils in earlier ages. Even though some exaggeration may, for the time, stimulate others, as well as ourselves, to a more intense resolve that the present evils should no longer exist, but it is not less wrong and generally it is much more foolish to palter with truth for good than for a selfish cause. The pessimistic descriptions of our own age, combined with the romantic exaggeration of the happiness of past ages must tend to setting aside the methods of progress, the work of which, if slow, is yet solid, and lead to the hasty adoption of others of greater promise, but which resemble the potent medicines of a charlatan, and while quickly effecting a little good sow the seeds of widespread and lasting decay. This impatient insincerity is an evil only less great than the moral torpor which can endure, that we with our modern resources and knowledge should look contentedly at the continued destruction of all that is worth having. There is an evil and an extreme impatience as well as an extreme patience with social ills.
Is this Meijer you're talking about? If so, welcome to the team. I'm the guy who develops the pictures. The optical minilab at our store runs on Unix, maybe you could squeegee out that junk.
Anyway, congratulations.
The sun shines in my bedroom
when you play;
and the rain it always starts
when you go away
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Should be permanent, although I suppose nothing is guaranteed.

That's precisely what I'll be doing. Unless...are you guys semi-independent, like the shoe people? Maybe you don't get transitioned. Anyway, if you do, I'll be mission control for it, by which I mean I sit in a chair at corporate and direct the action at your store.
Honestly, it came by me. <a href="http://www.kforce.com/Kforce/corporate/ ... >Kforce contacted me Friday, and set up an interview yesterday; I interviewed today, and had the job before I got back home from the office. Unreal. After two years of unemployment? Unreal.
Of course, I /do/ have, like, seven years of experience, so I guess the question ultimately is, how on earth did it take so /long?/

Maybe it's that economic turnaround you Bush/Republican friendly folks keep talking about
Mucho congrats on the job Earl, best of luck to you.

One time I built a matter transporter, but things got screwed up (long story, lol) and I ended up turning into a kind of half-human, half-housefly monstrosity.
