This was for my graphic design 2 class a couple of semsters ago....the Proff wanted use to make an ABC book but not a childrens book...you know some kind of coffee table book...so I came up with this...I also have 3 other pages of the book but I can't find them.

It would work in the preview because you were logged in and viewing the briefcase previous to posting, most likely.

Heck, if it's not too big (2MB) I'll host it. Mail kwyndig@mchsi.com with the attachment.

Sure:

1. The text looks to be fairly low quality. I'll assume that that's simply an artifact of the JPG file compression.

2. I think the photograph is a poor choice. It's too busy; there's no well defined focal point, the perspective looks skewed.

3. The english used is broken. I don't know if that's intentional, but I would have written it like this:

"On August Sixth, 1945, at 8:16 in the morning,
the city of Hiroshima, Japan,
and seventy-five thousand of her citizens,
were obliterated
by an American atomic bomb."

I'm not a fan of the word "obliterated," though. It's too.. comic booky for my tastes, and technically, it means "To do away with completely so as to leave no trace." - you can clearly see in the picture that there are many traces of the city left.

4. I'd also add some sort of effect where the image and the black meet; fade the image to black, roughed up edges, something like that.

I agree, I think the photo is too busy. to me it doesn't seem to convey the tragedy of all those lives lost. it looks like a tornado hit some town in Kansas instead.

Thanks guys...I see what you mean about both the image and the text...I think the text is how I got it from a site about Hiroshima...but I'll have to double check.
I'll try to find a "better" (better doesn't quite seem like the right word) picture.
I have serve space through verizon and as soon as I figure out how to put the pictures on there I'll be putting more stuff up.

have you thought about looking for free fonts? installation is easy, then shutdown-restart your graphics program and it should be accessable unless you have to install the font in your graphics program as well. either way, it's easy peasy.

the right font can make a heavy statement even if the graphic is simple.

Actual that was a free font :-D I didn't want anything to strong for the font because I wanted the focus to be on the image.
