Princess Serenity grew with amazing grace and beauty. Her long luscious hair framed her beautiful face and blue eyes. Her beauty shone so brightly that it left Gliese in a shadow. The shadow that fell on her wasn't just emotional but became physical as well. Her jealousy made her ill and sapped the very strength from her. It also left a dark spot hovering over her heart and soul. The Queen saw that dark spot in Princess Gliese and made a choice that would change the history of the Moon Kingdom forever. On Princess Serenity's 10th birthday, the Queen announced that the young Princess would be the new heir to the throne. Outraged by this announcement, the King and Queen of Earth dissolved the betrothal of their son to Princess Gliese and declared their independence from the Moon Kingdom. From that moment on, the planet Earth became off limits to subjects of the Moon Kingdom.

Gliese wasn't angry or sad. All she could think of was her beautiful sister. Beautiful Princess Serenity was the star in their mother's eye. She was a spitting image of the Queen and had the charisma of their dead father. Everyone loved her. She was even given the protection of the inner and outer world princesses. That didn't really bother Gliese either, since she didn't feel she needed their protection anyway. She always had a strong connection with the Imperium Crystal until her illness. Ever since she couldn't feel its power reaching out to her as strongly anymore, but she was certain that she knew where it went. She also noticed the frequent absence of her little sister and the Soldier Princesses. Something was happening and it seemed like everyone else knew, but her. There was only one place that her troublesome little sister would go to when trying to hide from the Queen, could it be possible that little Serenity met... him? She didn't want to believe it, but she finally saw it a few days after her sweet Sixteen.

Gliese was wandering through the royal gardens when she caught a glimmer of armor disappearing behind a pillar. Her first instinct was an attack on the palace and so she crept up to the pillar, preparing to sling a jolt of power when she saw him. Endymion was with Princess Serenity. He gave her little sister a rose and kissed her hand. Time seemed to stop for Gliese at the heart-breaking scene. Her eyes focused on the single rose and she could almost feel every thorn piercing her heart. It was more than she could bear and she ran away as fast her body would let her. She made it about halfway past the fountain when her crippled leg gave out and she crumbled to the marble floor. The pain in her leg and dignity was slighting compared to the pain in her heart. For so long had she wanted to find a way to bring him back into her life. He was a candleflame that led her out of darkness. She loved him and was now betrayed by him. Or at least she thought she loved him. No, she knew she loved him! At least that's what she told herself as she dragged herself out of sight, then pounded her fists on the marble until her hands were dark with bruises and then put her head down to cry.
