Meeting up at GenCon

Since there is no Gathering of note this year for people to meet up at prior, and for that it matters I wasn't even a part of this community last year to see how things worked then anyways, how are people planning to get together upon arriving at GenCon? Are you all setting things up privately (and not inviting me, you bastards :p) or is there something else I'm missing out on here, or is this thread the first that people have really considered it outside of meeting up for some of the event games?

The main reason I'm interested in this is that I'm not staying at any of the hotels, so I'm going to be a bit less into the whole thing and will likely need some initial help in meeting up with 'Drekkers for games and fun...

Word. As I might not end up staying with any Drekkers, it would be nice to have some sort of meet up either Wed night or Thurs.

I think its more of a 'hey I know you' thing and we'll simply run into each other at random. Look for people wearing SMITE shirts or recognizable ones from the pics in WWA :)

That bar-tab idea of ours in London is setting a trend, Jes. :)

The bar tab from London was more than the GDP of some 3rd world nations. :D

Jillians lurves teh Bulldrek.

Bulldrek lurves Jillians, and will continue to do so unless the local constabulary gets involved.

Not to mention that it's set a standard that no-one has since matched - not even us :)

Well, let's not forget the "Welcome to Europe" party Lin's going to throw in August. If I can make that, I'll make sure to keep the bills for the liquor spent on that, because I know the bills for the Denmark trips have ranked up there. :)

Oh, but that's aided by vast numbers of drunken Danes. That's cheating. :)

There is no such thing as cheating. :D

So I just need my own collection of drunken Danes to compete, then?

Anyone got any spare Danes?

I have no spare Danes.

Oh, and did I mention that my party will /kick fucking ass/. :D

Just a note for next year, cause I'm just masochistic enough to already be thinking that far ahead...

I did dinner reservations this year at both Oirgins and Gen Con. The turn out for both was great, and it was really cool to be able to have that pre-convention get together on Wednesday night, but unfortunatly my restaurant of choice in Indy was A) smaller than expected and B) Way the fuck out in BFE. So next year, I have new plans...

Jillians has a party room/dining room area, and IIRC< takes reservations, so what I plan to do is for Wednesday night before the convention, reserve it for a big ass party for Bulldrek, Dumpshock, my GMs, and anyone else who feels like showing up, having dinner, and getting trashed. :]

Next year, we do this up better, since now I have a clue what the city is like :]

Speaking of next year, we're planning on staying in the Embassy again. The free drinks and free breakfast are too good to pass up.

Let's just hope they don't change the policy at the Embassy...... ;)

Bull: Jillian's sounds like an excellent choice for next year's dinner-thingy. Within staggering distance is always good. (hee!)

Oh hell yeah, on both ideas. Although we'll probably roll up and find that they've suspended the whole Happy Two-Hours for the duration of the con. ;) We need to get more people at the Suites next year, that was fun.

On another note, I'm thinking of putting forward a proposal to change the name of GenCon to something more fitting, like say DrunkCon '04? :roll

I still have my room key. There is an Embassy Suites in Philly. Let's see if they all have free drinks...

I'm going to be mighty annoyed if they suspend the Happy Two Hours!

I would find it hard to believe they would do that, as this is an amenity listed on the website. This was not con specific, just something they do. What they'll probably do is the same thing they did saturday evening.... Put just one Bartender on duty. That pretty much slowed the flow of alcohol to a trickle, and I doubt it was an accidental scheduling problem.

I knew it wasn't con specific, but I didn't realize it was listed on the website. I agree; in that case, I doubt they'll suspend the offer.

Hells yeah, we need to have a solid DS/BD infection of Jillians.
