Monthly Financials

Post by Kai »

In which I report the status of funding or lack thereof for Bulldrek, seeing as I need someplace to keep this straight as I kinda offered the Winternight Technologies address in lieu of 32's muchly overdrawn checking account. So initial report.

20 June 2003

+$ 0 Carryover from May
+$ 5 Donations In
- $30 Winternight Technologies Hosting cost for June
+$15 Winternight Technologies subsidy
- $?? Prohosters back payments due (32, please let me know when you can)

Net Funding: -$10+Prohosters back payments

Pending upcoming expenses: Domain renewel/transfer - $15

Financials are always available by email request and will be posted the first of every month. Donations for funding are accepted at winternighttech@winternightex.com Any funding remaining after completing back payments will be put towards prepaying current hosting. Should funding exceed the one year pre-pay amount, funds will be available for group projects such as Gatherings, tshirts, or other community oriented projects as desired.

Now that's what I want to see. That way, community can react as whole, and be more aware of status of Bulldrek, etc.

That will help us know how much Bulldrek needs, etc.

Big kudos to you, Kai.

Okay, here's a question. I've tried to set up a PayPal account, but I'm running into a slight problem with the fact that the address on my debit/credit card is an APO (military p.o. box) address. Does anyone know a workaround for this? Failing that, what other ways can I make a donation?

The APO thing, not a clue :/ Might check Paypal's FAQ and see if it says anything. Outside of Paypal depends if you trust me with your money or not :) Unfortunatly business accounts require something like $500 - $1000 minimum balance, which, ha, I wiped out my profits with $80 in comp parts last month :) Therefore you can send snail mail to

Winternight Technologies
P.O. Box 891
Auburn GA 30011

But the catch is checks or money orders have to be made out to me in order for me to cash them and not the business name. :/ So obviously, Paypal is better, but if you can't do it, that's fine, send to above address and make checks/mo out to Sara Miller.

The back payments on Prohosters are US$75. If people can PayPal that to Kai, who could [?] pay the amount on her credit or debit card or by check or whatnot, Prohosters would stop sending men with baseball bats to my house.

Turns out Prohosters accepts PayPal payments, so we can do this directly to them. I'm getting the address we should use: as soon as I know what it is, we'll see what we need to do.

No problem, funds can be sent from the pool directly to Prohosters address, only I'll probably need some sort of account number or something so they know that it belongs to Bulldrek's account and we're not just random people throwing money at them :)

Add another US$75 in Prohosters bills. And the domain transfer will have to happen soon, so we can cancel our account with them. No e-mail yet on that.

What's the current financial situation and how much in donations do we need to get the ball rolling on the domain transfer? Also what's the current paypal account that we send donations to?

Prohosters back payments are up to US$225. I just tried to check what the resultant overdraft fees were up to, but my bank account's been disabled. Since that's the account my PayPal account is registered to, it wouldn't do anyone much good to send money to me, since it would just lower my overdraft, not pay the actual bills.

winternighttech@winternightex.com. Currently we have...like $6, but I need to check if anything's happened in the last 2 weeks. $15 due to WT on 8/1, anything over to that goes to Prohosters as soon as a have an addy or something to send payment to them at.

02 July 2003

+$6 Carryover from June
+$50 Donations In
- $15 Winternight Technologies Hosting (at cost) for August
- $225 Prohosters back payments due

Available Cash: $41
Net Funding: -$184

Pending upcoming expenses: Domain renewel/transfer - $15 (still, really)

Earl, I need the account number, address, phone number, something for Prohosters if you want us to pay them anything. I have no way to get them any of the money we owe them. Also considering we can't access anything on their servers anymore, I suggest you have them close the account so it doesn't accrue any more fees and we will pay back costs as neccessary.

Also, I've decided not to list names as a privacy issue as far as donations, but if you do send something and want confirmation it was recieved, just note so on Paypal or with the envelope, etc and I'll make sure to let you knwo when I recieve it.

Correct, we're in the black. A couple of real generous people there last month or so.

Unless for some bizarre reason we run out of space (you people would have to really try) we have no expenses until next October hosting wise.

Well, what do you all want to do with extra money? :) Yeah, we can pay out a couple years or so, but if people would rather put it towards a t-shirt design or something else for the community, that's cool, and its not like donations won't be used, but it will just sit there until next year for the moment.

Well, there /are/ still a little over US$350 in back ProHosters bills owed to my bank. I think it's really neat that so many people have given so much for the new server, but we're talking about another $350 on my credit report from server bills now nearly a year old. I don't know if that's something people are interested in helping with, or if we want to cover bills further into the future, instead.

For some reason, I'm in favor of half-half. Half for future, and half to remove the costs.

Or rather, 75% to remove the costs, and 25% to future.

I'm with Flame. We've put (at least) $150 into the present costs, so the next $200 can easily go to (further) back costs (about equivalent to the previous $210 back-payment and $150 for present costs). Somewhere in the 6-month to 3-month period prior to October (and our next needed payment), we should probably start reserving money for the next pre-pay. Once we have enough for the year, put it in and further donations can, again, go to the back-costs. Or people could send direct to 32, in some fashion. As Paul was considering making a large donation -- if this was the general consensus plan then he could side-step the handling fees and just hand the money over more directly (seeing as they live close enough to see eachother on a regular basis and all).
