[Shadowrun] Chicago

Post by Serious Paul »

I am starting a campaign arc for my real life group, which will be set in Bug City. If you're in my group, you shouldn't let me knwo you've read this.

what I am planning on using this thread for is a sort of open questionaire to the Chicago crew for background and flavor for my game.

I plan on buying a Chicago Street map, and I am downlaoding some maps offline right now.

I'll be asking some questions of you all yet.

Does anyone in Chicago use Chicago as a setting? Or anyone for that matter?

A fixer I am designing, and a fixer inspiration I need.

I've used it before. In fact, I've used it to find someone's house. "I don't see that street on the map." "We're just north of the Containment zone." "Oh! Found it."

Very sad. ;)

On the topic at hand, what are you looking for in the way of a Fixer? Serious, campy, etc? Sadly, most of my ideas lean towards the Campy side.

How'd they get started in the business and progress? Do they specialise at all or offer the whole range of services? What is their business style- all business, try to be everybody's friend, come accross a bit sleazy etc.? Where do they like to do business and or meets?

I just bought a street map of Chicago. I am planning on using that as much as I can.

To answer your questions Flak, I am not sure yet. I haven't received their PC's yet. But the Fixer will be a major personality after the wall goes up, and Chicago is isolated from the world. he will become a major player in the Zone.

I want him to be a combination of smart and cold, with a mixture of sarcastic humor. with the glut of corporate types maybe he's one of those-maybe even a CEO or a suit who finds himself out of a job.

Either way he is sitting on a massive supply of ammunition, food, and weapons right off. As the game develops he'll have a pretty reliable connection to outside the zone.

However he is a cold bastard. He'd let them fall off a cliff unless they had something to trade for his help.

Okay Jeff, pipe up damn it!

Jesus I just realized how f'ing big Chi Town is-especially Bug City. The whole two foot by four foot map I have of Downtown is just a 2 or 3 inch by 2 inch piece of the foot by foot and a half map of the containment zone.

Christ!

My map is literally hundreds of miles. I never before thought of how big the Containment zone is.

Christ on a stick.

For the fixer, sounds like a corporate Johnson that got trapped inside the Zone. Would know the corporate types, the runners and criminals, and could access to stashed of comapny equipment or know where to look. Also leads to the question of are they fully independent now? Or do they still harbour some loyalty to the company, could they still be in touch/wotking for them somehow, or are they all bitter about the execs running off and being left behind?
