Mage: The Ascencion

Post by FlakJacket »

Okay, so on the roadtrip to Indy for GenCon with Moo, the conversation somehow turned to White Wolf and Mage in particular- I think I was taking the piss out of stereotypical VtM players at the time. So after my brain cranks out a memory of this, I trundle off and have a look at the thing. And it looks fairly interesting.

Does anyone know of any decent sites for it? Also, could you explain the different Editions. As far as I can see you've got First, Second and Revised (Third)? Is that right? From what I hear Second was the better. Also, some place with a list of the different books and which Edition they belong to would be handy. Don't ask for much do I? ;)

Damn you Cow! That's Obsidian, Mage, Werid Al and bloody country music music, if not 'real' country, that you've infected me! Should have a warning or something on you. :) Although I did do it two years in a row so that says something about me I suppose. :/

I don't know about sites, but the editions are 1st, 2nd, revised (can basically all be used interchangeably), Mage: The Sorceror's Crusade, Dark Ages: Mage (pretty bad), and for those weak-ass magicians: Sorcerer and Sorcerer Revised.

Mechanically, Revised is the best edition, metaplotwise, 2nd is the coolest.

Realistically, you can use all three interchangably, keeping whatever rules/rotes you prefer.

Rotes are just ideas. You don't actually need them.

Well, there's certainly no equivalent of Bulldrek for White Wolf gamers, alas.

I used to go hang out at Ex Libris Nocturnis, and IIRC they weren't too bad. A bit overpopulated with the 15-17 male set, :cute , but where isn't, really.

If you find any other sites worth our time, do share. :)

Not exactly what you were looking for, but it's a character creation site.

Hope it helps.

Cazmonster uses his mastery of the life, spirit and matter spheres to transmogrify Icepick into a sentient piece of poo for Brineshrimp's freezing and enjoyment.

*Reveals his true colors, and deflects the spell back at Caz*

Dropped something.

Mastery level, boyo.

Cazmonster disappates the spell harmlessly and then rips open Icepick's torso to feast on the withered black organs within.

Somewhat surprised, Ancient draws the Nagaraja card from his Tarot deck.
