Thaumaturgy used to be an okay discipline, then it got pumped up to Ultra-Power-Gamer-Munchykin levels, and now has to contend with Assamite Sorcery, Koldunic Sorcery, Setite Sorcery, necromancy, Mortis, Dur-an-Ki, Dark Thaumaturgy, RUne-lore and Ghost knows what else I don't have manuals for.
Is this a Good Thing, deflating a power-gamer discipline, or a Bad Thing, giving players MORE Power-Munchkin disciplines?

It's a bad thing.
If you can't get it done on Presence, Potence, Fortitude and a little Celerity, you're not a real bloodsucker. Go find a Mage game to leech off of.
Vamps are supposed to be unearthly powerful, except for those Tremere perverts, they don't need magic.
