Phys Ad question.
Okay, so what initiate powers are available to phys ads?
I have a level 2 initiate that I would love to "complete" with said info.

I guess I should also add Psychometry from SOTA:2063
Channeling is out by the rules, because it requires the conjuring skill. Sensing looks like it would be ok, although I might require the Adept to take Astral Perception. I know it says you don't have to astrally percieve, but there is a difference between not needing to and not being able to.
I don't see any actual rules for Psychometry, so I can't really say. I would say it's linking to Astral Perception, so would require that power. But that's my take. Are there actual mechanics listed for Sympathetic magic? What page?

So, if I take masking, can I then take masking again? Say my initiate's first "mask" is that of a mundane. Can his second be that of a cyber-zombie?

No. Conjuring involves channeling magic, summoning a spirit, and forcing it to owe you services.Conjuring requires having a spirit owe you services; it's not impossible for a physad to use it...just extremely unlikely.
Phys Ad's could take conjuring as a knowledge skill, but not as an active skill. It would be like a para-palegic with the running skill. Doesn't make sense.

Can they? Under 2nd Ed it was iffy, but under 3rd Ed, they are just a variant of adepts. I can't check, since I don't have my copy of MitS here, but unless it explicitly says they can get any metamagical power they like then they're just adepts and can only get the adept's metamagical powers.Ancient History wrote:Oh, and physical magicians can get any and all metamagics.

Okay, first off, above I meant "Channelling" instead of COnjuring.
I.e. I don't see any reason why an adept who has a spirit that owes him/her services can't use Channelling the metamagic. Theres a few different ways this can happen.
Second, I BELIEVE that Physical Magicians can gain any metamagic, but I haven't checked. I could be wrong.

It specifically says that you must be able to meet the stated requirements. A Phys Ad can't learn Quickening, because it requires the the Sorcery Skill. I think it makes an example of Possesion, because Phys Ads can't go astral.

Although, the book is wrong. It says they can learn any of the Metamagical techniques, but under Metamagical techniques it says they must meet the requirements. They can't learn possesion, because they can't astrally project.
Time to shoot the editors.

Centering. I don't have my books in front of me at the moment, but from what I remember centering for adepts involves all sorts of fun.
