Gang Phrases Help

Post by Serious Paul »

Anyone here happen to know what the phrase "Throwing books" means when referring to STG (Gangs) usage? I'd appreciate any serious input. I think I know what it means, but I just want confirmation.

No clue. I can ask a friend or two at work tomorrow.
I suspect that people who speak or write properly are up to no good, or homersexual, or both

I always thought it referred to getting arrested on multiple charges

ie: "That cop be throwin' books at my ass, I be looking 10-12..."

Yeah, I would also assume it to be a derivation of "having the book thrown at you," but I'm approximately the least-well-informed person in the world about this issue.

As best I can tell this phrase has three meanings, depending on how it is used:
  • To tag social media networks, like Facebook, with Gang Sign/Symbols/Phrases
  • A fight between members internally
  • Enforcement of violations
In this case it was number two.
