Star Wars in the top 20? They're obviously retarded.

Citizen Kane in the top 100 is the real crime. That movie is horribly overrated. It's a great example of film snobs ruling over places like AFI and the Academy.

I remember seeing a list, I think it was the iMDB top 100, where Blade Runner took the top spot.

It's a list made by a small group of people and as with everything their opinion might not necessarily reflect our opinion... I most certainly don't agree with all 100 entries in this list.
It's lonely at the top. But it's comforting to look down upon everyone at the bottom.

Wow. That's kind of scary. Less than 10 that I haven't seen.

Nah. Here's the IMDB Top 250. Blade Runner just barely squeaks into the top 100.

He's partially correct. Blade Runner was quite a bit higher at one point, and was in the top 10. But like most of IMDB, the ratings are incredibly suspect and easily manipulated. With the recent influx of people from the various movie mogul game sites, it's completely screwed up the ratings on IMDB, as they use those very ratings for their game. So, fake voting, just to screw up a movie in someone else's stable happens often. Not too many of the sites actually use older movies, but there are a few that do.

What? I don't remember ever seeing Blade Runner anywhere near the top 10 in that particular list. Anyways, even if random votes from game site doo mess with the IMDB Top 250 (it looks to me like they take measures to avoid that), I would still consider it far mor realistic a list than the AFI's. I mean, look at them.

I could quite easily be wrong. I'm going from memory here. But I know that it was one of the movies specifically mentioned on the one movie mogul site I frequent as being affected by the ratings.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong Jeff. I've been a registered user at IMDB for a long time, and this is one of my secret vices: Movies. Blade Runner, while great and certainly worthy in my personal book, has never been in the general top ten-however it is in the Sci-Fi sub genre top ten.

And that right there would be what I was thinking of. I knew somebody more motivated than me would find it eventually. :)

I'm been hanging around there for a few years, can't recall exactly when I joined. I've just really noticed the problems with the ratings (particularly with newer movies) in the last year. That's why a number of teen slasher flicks started breaking the top 250 for a week or so, due to the machinations of the really fucking annoying game sites.

I actually thought I got it off of the BBC News Top 100 Movies List, but it only ranks 8 there. I think my memory is failing me.

No place for The Third Man? Oh that's just wrong.

Oh agreed. I saw it a few years back and honestly couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

Forrest fucking Gump made the list? Titanic?!?

I feel ill.

Actually, I disagree with quite a few of the choices on the list.
