In the SST forum, users are free to discuss philosophy, music, art, religion, sock colour, whatever. It's a haven from the madness of Bulldrek; alternately intellectual and mundane, this is where the controversy takes place.
You might want to have a bit of a closer look, all components might not be dead. It would be silly to go out and buy a completely new one if you could salvage alot of parts.
Did it smell strange when you heard the "snap"? Have you looked and seen if you can see something that looks burned (or a component that has exploded)?
I met today with a friend, to see if the problem is limited to the power source or if the motherboard is gone. Sadly, we couldn't check it out, because it turns out it's an AT and he only had ATX power sources (or something like that).
