Homosexuality

In the SST forum, users are free to discuss philosophy, music, art, religion, sock colour, whatever. It's a haven from the madness of Bulldrek; alternately intellectual and mundane, this is where the controversy takes place.

Homosexuality

There's no real discussion that I want to start, but, statistically, we should have some homosexuals among us, but I don't remember anyone ever claiming to be a homosexual. So, is anyone here a homosexual?

This is an incredibly important subject to Dennis, so please respond, everyone. You have no idea how important it is.

I believe that Mr Mooky is, but I'm not sure that he's figured out that Bulldrek is up and running again. Should I bump into him again, which I have done on a few occasions, I'll let him know.

It should also be noted that Ross is gay.

Strictly for the record, I would like to say I am not gay. Just, y'know, if there was ever any doubt or anything.

Mooky's gay, if I remember correctly, and Lexi was a pre-op transsexual. (Might be the wrong handle, but there was definetly a MtF pre-op here a while ago.) Angel, if I remember correctly, is either homosexual or a bisexual with a very strong preference for women; I think BroJ mentioned experimenting with dudes a few times.

Plus there's Elf. Fucking Ross, that Idaho kid is.

While given the size of the community I would tend to agree that it's statisticaly likely there's a homosexual in our ranks, what numbers are you using?

Vague, but I guess as I have an immense respect for him I'll answer. I am quite straight as men hold no interest to me sexually.

I think Sal's list was kind of on the mark, although I don't know if we should be allowed to answer for others.

I'd fall under the admittedly bi category I guess. Or bi-experimental at least. Or if Crazy Elf were speaking, partially Ross.

Whatever. Take your pick.

I dated only women for a year and a half, but I'm obviously only involved with a man now.

And also, a pre-op trans does not neccessarily mean that Lexi was a homosexual.

I kind of wish that didn't evoke any images of 32 rubbing your face with high-level love.
There is then a need to guard against a temptation to overstate the economic evils of our own age, and to ignore the existence of similar, or worse, evils in earlier ages. Even though some exaggeration may, for the time, stimulate others, as well as ourselves, to a more intense resolve that the present evils should no longer exist, but it is not less wrong and generally it is much more foolish to palter with truth for good than for a selfish cause. The pessimistic descriptions of our own age, combined with the romantic exaggeration of the happiness of past ages must tend to setting aside the methods of progress, the work of which, if slow, is yet solid, and lead to the hasty adoption of others of greater promise, but which resemble the potent medicines of a charlatan, and while quickly effecting a little good sow the seeds of widespread and lasting decay. This impatient insincerity is an evil only less great than the moral torpor which can endure, that we with our modern resources and knowledge should look contentedly at the continued destruction of all that is worth having. There is an evil and an extreme impatience as well as an extreme patience with social ills.

This is my personal opinion, so don't anybody crucify me if they don't agree.
I believe that everyone is at least a little bi-curious for at least a little while. People are naturally drawn to things that are "forbidden", "taboo", or just plain not always agreed with. Sort of a Pandora's Box/Promethius/Frankenstein thing. And everyone I've met lately has been admittedly bisexual, whether with a stronger draw from their own sex or from the other. And haven't some studies proven that at some point in their life, almost everyone questions their sexuality?

Kitt wrote:I believe that everyone is at least a little bi-curious for at least a little while.
"To one degree or another," or so I'm told. I've never really /felt/ curious, but that just means my "degree" isn't very high. *shrug* I never really liked boys, anyway, so sex with them seems uninteresting.
Kitt wrote:People are naturally drawn to things that are "forbidden", "taboo", or just plain not always agreed with. Sort of a Pandora's Box/Promethius/Frankenstein thing. And everyone I've met lately has been admittedly bisexual, whether with a stronger draw from their own sex or from the other.
And I think the first sentence is a fair portion of the reason for the last. While I'm certain there are compelling physiological and psychological reasons for bi-curiousness, I think the vast majority of people who are curious or think they're curious are actually what I call "bi-cool," not "bi-curious." People are interested in the forbidden, but people are also interested in being cool, and what's more cool than what's most forbidden?

Personally, I'm sick and tired of "bi-cool" people, and wish that fad would die down. If they're actually curious, great, whatever. But when they're just doing it for attention, I find it greatly irritating.
Kitt wrote:And haven't some studies proven that at some point in their life, almost everyone questions their sexuality?
Hell, I did, and I'm the most non-gay person I know. My questioning period was very brief - about 10 seconds, since I just did it in my head - since I derived a - uniquely male - method of ascertaining my preference. This works for nearly any male, so give it a try, men:

It really isn't important at all. I think that was Moulsari having a bit of fun with me, trying to make it seem like I am as gay as The Gay Model would be. :)

I have had very little time, even though I've been online. The reason I asked is that I was curious that with all the sex threads out there, I had heard very little about homosexuals on Bulldrek. That's either because there aren't any - and it seems there's really but two or three - or because people just hadn't made it known, which seems to be the case as well. I didn't know about Mooky or Angel.

I think people just don't peg it, Deev. I know a lot of gays really don't like to be categorised by their sexuality, and dislike the idea that they have to come forward and say upon introduction, "Hi, I'm such and such, and I'm a Ross." It's not really fair when you think about it. I don't introduce myself and say, "I'm straight by the way."

It's odd, a lot of people assume that if someone's gay they'll know about it. Typically you do, because a lot of people end up defining themselves by their sexuality to a degree, but still a lot of homosexuals are pretty balanced and at home with where they like to put their wing wangs or whom they like to lick their bean.

While still absolutely true, one of the funnier ways I've heard of same sex activities described. This is, of course, why I love the Elf in completely inappropriate sexual manner. :D

I'm not sure about guys, but I think that most girls really are bi-curious as opposed to bi-cool. There was a thread here a couple of years ago about research on the subject, and the results suggested that females were aroused by both male and female stimuli, whereas men were only aroused by female stimuli (I think it was about watching porn, I can't remember the article exactly).

My theory is that men are designed* to be straight (and being bi or gay is a slip-up) because they're supposed to spread their seed around and our ancestors (apes) had a system where the alpha male would impregnate all the females in a group. The females would be mostly straight (they still need to get pregnant), but because their partner is sleeping around, it makes sense for them to be fond of his other fuck buddies aswell, but perhaps to a lesser degree. And most women will have a problem with their partner sleeping with another woman, but I think less would mind having a threesome with an extra girl. Basically I think it's a residual effect of how we evolved to have one man breeding with many females. Any opinions on this?

*When I say designed, I don't mean we were designed by an intelligent being, and I don't mean what's morally right, but rather how we have evolved to function.

As an aside, I don't have any problem with homosexuals, but I straight-up despise people who define themselves through their sexuality, whichever way they blow. I'm far more comfortable and accepting of people who don't introduce themselves as gay (or flaunt it in other blatantly obvious ways) - people who think of themselves as people that happen to like dudes or chicks rather than "a guy who likes dudes."
