Sexual Harassment: Opinions?

After I close the bar tonight (around 2:30am), I get to drive home and go to bed. Roughly 4 hours later I get to come back to work for a meeting with our company's lawyer. The topic: sexual harassment.

Serious subject matter? Certainly. Espcially after the incident we had (i.e., while presumably drunk, one male employee grabbed a female employee's boob).

My question: Do you think sexual harassment is a one-way door?

In other words, can men be sexually harassed by a female employee? If so, how hard is it to prove? How seriously is it taken?

Just curious.

Yes, men can be sexually harrassed by women. The recent video on the subject I had to watch at work brought up an interesting case, in which a woman had harrassed a married Male superior into trying to sleep with her. She wore provocative clothing, and "flirted" with all of her coworkers on the basis that she wasn't singling any one person out. However, once in his office she was no longer flirtatious but overtly sexual towards him, unbuttoning clothing, raising an already short skirt while sitting on the edge of his desk. He being a very intelligent man, quickly began recording the events in his office with a webcam. He also reported it immediately to HR, who of course blew him off until he presented them not only with the webcam footage, but a lawsuit for their lack of cooperation.

Now, back to the reason for the need to talk to the lawyer...is it not policy at your work that an employee is not allowed to become intoxicated while on the property even if they are off the clock? I don't mean they aren't allowed to come in for a drink or two, but to get intoxicated while there has oft been grounds for dismissal at many of the bars I worked at.

Certainly, as far as the law is concerned. "Harrasment" usually means that it's repeated and unwanted, though, and guys tend to be a lot more forgiving about that sort of thing than women.

"It's not fair. She keeps rubbing her breasts against me and grabbing my wang."

"What are you, gay? Get out of my face, Ross."

I'd hit it twice.

Seriously, there are lots of reasons why a man wouldn't want to sleep with a woman just because she comes on to him. The proving is harder, and our legal standard as far as I know is based on what a 'reasonable woman' would find offensive, but it happens.

I'm going to require you to surrender your penis. You have committed a grevious offence against the Man Act.

Sure, it's just harder to prove, and more than likely not going to be taken seriously. Many years ago I was taking a course on the legal system. One of the examples was a man who was harrased at work, informed HR, and she found out about it. Well, she went crying to HR as well and they fired him, because they figured that he had filed a complaint to blunt the female employee's complaint.

In the end he was able to prove his alligation, she wasn't. He ended up with a big chunk of change from the company.

I couldn't bring myself to go anywhere near her wrinkled labia that hangs down near the knees.

I'd like to sight a man I sight often in converstion and otherwise, Chris Rock....

"The problem here is that every man you've met since you were 13 has been trying to fuck ya'. Every time a man opens a door for you, every time he's nice, he's just offering dick... We men have to fend for ourselves... A man can stop chasing pussy, but when it jumps in his lap... He's all over it..."

See here, the problem clause is "unwanted sexual attention" Other than the seven minutes after he just got off, a man is pretty much thinking about sex. Sometimes even during that seven minutes.

There was supposed to be more, but I finished like 3 beers since writing the rest of this...

Dunno, would you two really have all that much to talk about? Figure you'd just want to bite the bullet and get it over with.

She's old now. Hopefully she'd keel over during the 'conversation'. Either that or she gets Alzheimers and forgets.

Anything to get out of that cruel fate.

I'll say that tapping Maggie Thatcher is real low on my todo list, but a good conversation...?

Intelligent and powerful people tend to be pretty damn interesting. You saying you wouldn't be interested to hear her views on the state of the world today? I know I would.
