who plays warhammer and what do you play?

I've played once or twice. Seemed fun, but it's too expensive to get into IMHO. I know, I probably spend just as much on RPG expansions, but I have more of an option to not buy them then with minitures stuff. So it seems at least.

(BTW, I thik this would be better placed over in Words without End. I don't particularly care, but some people seem to be a stickler for it.)

For Fantasy, I have probably about 2500 to maybe 3000 point Lizardman Southlands army.

I also have a 1500 points Tyranids army and an assembled but unpainted 2000 point Tau army.

Dwarves and orks. Having sold all my paints and my lizardman army, I'm down to a few blisters of metal Dwarf Miners and a horde of plastic orks covered with black primer.

I have a small lizardman army backed up with Tichi-Huichi's Raiders.

I also got a bunch of unpainted Skaven with a bunch of warpfire throwers and jezzail rifles.

I'm working on fielding a 2000 point, modular Cha0s army. I say modular, because the army remains the same in tactical execution, regardless of point value.

The core units are two regiments of Chaos warriors, 2 chariots(/w character) and that's it.

The Vanguard of the End Times

Verjigorm, Herald of Khorne, Lord of Skulls

Lord of Chaos, mounted on a Chaos Chariot, 275pts
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 8 3 5 5 3 8 5 9
Armor Save: 4+(2+ on Chariot)
Equipment: Greatweapon(+2 Str, strikes last), Mark of Khorne, Helm of Many Eyes(Strikes first, always) and Chaos Armor

Harjor, Exalted Champion of Khorne, mounted on a chaos chariot 160pts
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 7 3 5 4 2 7 4 8
Armor Save: 3+(1+ on Chariot, 2+ on foot, in close combat)
Equipment: Sword of Battler(+1A), Mark of Khorne, Shield and Chaos Armor.

Grimbal, Aspiring Champion of Khorne, 119pts
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 6 3 5 4 2 7 3 8
Armor Save: 4+
Equipment: Great Weapon, Mark of Khorne

Gotrix, Chosen of the Gods, 230pts
Aspirign Champ.(Battle Standard Bearer)
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 6 3 5 4 2 7 3 8
Armor save: 4+
Equipment: Battle Standard(Banner of the Gods), Mark of Chaos Undivided, Chaos Armor

Total number of Characters: 4. Total Points value: 784

Blades of Khorne
16 Chosen Chaos Warriors, 443pts
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 5 3 4 4 1 5 2 8
+4 5 3 4 4 1 5 3 8
+: Champion
Options: Champion, Standardbearer, Musician, Mark of Khorne, Additional Hand weapons(+1A), Banner of Rage

Skullgrinders of the Blood God
20 Chaos Warriors, 375 pts
M WS BS S T W I A LD
4 5 3 4 4 1 5 1 8
+4 5 3 4 4 1 5 2 8
+: champion
Options: Champion, Standardbearer, Musician, Mark of Khorne, shields and hand weapons

2 Chariots of Chaos, 300pts

total 1632

I'm going to work on another regiment of Chaos Warriors, or maybe Minotaurs or something.

I've got around a thousand points of Fantasy Orcs (if I really kit them out) and about 1800 40K Tyranids, mostly unassembled.

About 1500 points worth of Skaven (all but one unit is not Clan Skryre).

They haven't been played in years, though. Been too busy with real life and, of course, Warmachine.
This is my signature. Enjoy

I have never played this outragiously over-priced game. But I am curious, what is a point?

I'd argue that it's expensive rather than over-priced, but when playing Warhammer, part of the setup of your battle is an agreement to how big your armies will be. Each unit costs a certain amount of points, so you can scale your battles from a 500 point skirmish, say, to a 3000 point all-out war. I'm just going off my recently acquired knowledge, though. I'll know more when I get a chance to actually play.
Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach, become critics. They also misapply overly niggling inerpretations of Logical Fallacies in place of arguing anything at all.

It is - hypothetically - a way of balancing different units in the game. Each model costs a certain number of "points;" point limits are used to decide the overall size of the game. In theory, armies with the same total points value are balanced against each other. In practice, this is often not the case (though WHFB is /much/ better about it than 40K, unless you're playing VC or Skaven, which are hideously overpowered.)

The point count of an army takes in to account the number and skill of troops, the number and power of magic items and better weaponry, and special units like seige equipment, snotling war wagons or the like.

So: more stuff == less troops.
