Crank the Volume

Post by FlakJacket »

Music, for the most part I believe should always be played at loud volumes. Preferably at levels where you can feel the bass through your chest cavity. So I'm looking for suggestions for songs of all genres that just have to be played as loud as possible.

Pretty much anything by Tool; The Grudge works well here, as does Eulogy.

Finch - What It Is To Burn
Rancid - Maxwell Murders
Union Underground - South Texas Deathride

Flame: Have you ever tried any of the music visualization programs availible, like AVS, Geiss, or Milkdrop? You might find it interesting.

"Dies Irae" - Verdi (one of my best choir-memories is singing that for this huge concert thing in college, backed by the full orchestra - I was standing about 15-20 feet from the timpani. Fan-fucking-tastic)

"Impression That I Get" - Mighty Mighty Bosstones

"Just Another Day" - Oingo Boingo

Crap. Brain failing. There are more, I'm sure.

Oh boy... Just got to reply to this. I'll have to limit myself to only one song from each artist.

At the Gates - Cold
Morbid Angel - Eyes to See, Ears to Hear
Nine Inch Nails - Mr. Self-Destruct
Bathory - A Fine Day To Die
Goldie - Temper Temper
Dark Tranquillity - The Emptiness from which I Fed
Portishead - Undenied
Sepultura - Refuse/Resist
Emperor - The Loss and Curse of Reverence
Meshuggah - Future Breed Machine
Hypocrisy - Roswell '47
Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy
Opeth - April Ethereal
In Flames - Jotun
Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy (Pappy Mix)
The Cranberries - Zombie
David Bowie & Nine Inch Nails - I'm Afraid of Americans
Pain - End of the Line
Death - Sacred Serenity (that one was difficult to pick)
Amorphis - My Kantele
Metallica - The Thing That Should Not Be
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
Carcass - Heartwork
Björk - Play Dead
Prodigy - No Good (Start the Dance)
Tom Waits - What's He Building :p
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Suck My Kiss
Moonspell - Opium
Kari Rueslåtten - Hör min sang
Dissection - Where Dead Angels Lie
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (the longer version from Electric Ladyland)
DJ Teebee - Silent Depths
Ulver - Östenför Sol Og Vestenför Måne

--

That's quite a metal oriented list, now that I look at it. Kind of strange, because I don't listen to metal that much (anymore), but... this was about songs that were supposed to be played at volume 10, eh?

Anything by Godspeed you! Black Emperor (because louder is better)

Maybe Calla, it has a lot of bass sound while being relatively calm music.

Bjork - I Miss You
Bob Dylan - Hurricane

Well, I prefer to play most music at a relatively high volume. A practise which I had to limit, because I don't want our little boy to end up deaf and because our neighbours might reinstate the time-honoured tradition of a lynch-mob.

But these songs just beg to be played with the volume-knob turned up high:

DMX - Party Up
Apollo Four Forty - Stop The Rock
Chumbawumba - I Get Knocked Down
Creed - Higher
Fatboy Slim - Rockefeller Skank
Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly
George Thoroughgood - Bad To The Bone
Limp Bizkit - Rollin, Nookie, Break Stuff
Linkin Park - One Step Closer
Papa Roach - Last Resort
Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Of
Rammstein - pretty much all of their stuff
2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This
C&C Music Factory - Gonna Make You Sweat
House Of Pain - Jump Around
K7 - Come Baby Come
Praga Khan - Rave Alarm
Prodigy - Breathe
Tag Team - Whoomp! There It Is
Korn - It's On
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away
The Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode

....and pretty much the whole soundtrack to the movie Judgement Night

Juno Reactor's Congo Fury (you heard it in The Matrix IIRC)
Animatrix. It was the song playing during the sparring session in Final Flight of the Osiris.

My Life With Thrill Kill Kult: Sex on Wheels, Juke Joint Jezebel
Juke Joint Jezebels was by KMFDM. And speaking of KMFDM, here are a few of their other songs that are GREAT played loud: Megalomaniac, and Ultra.

Few others:

L.A. Style - James Brown Is Dead
Ashtrayhead - Ashtrayhead
Velevet Acid Christ - Dial8
Alice In Chains - Them Bones
A Perfect Circle - Judith

And it's Conga Fury, not Congo Fury. And it's the second track off of their third album "Bible of Dreams."

A440, forgot about them, lots of their stuff goes on high volumes

Disturbed - Voices
Ace of Base - Beautiful Life, Cruel Summer (Blazin' Rhythm Mix)
KLF - 3AM (Live)
Mai Kuraki - Yes or No (Trancecontinental Mix)

10:41 Kai: Ohayou minna
10:42 Adam: ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER! :)
10:44 Kai: Fuck off, how's that? ;P

Error

Featuring: Atticus Ross (NIN, 12 Rounds), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion, Epitaph), Leopold Ross & Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan).

Happened across these guys courtesy theninhotline.net. I will have to buy this CD when it comes out.

Now... does anyone know how to strip the audio out of an *.swf file? (if anyone happens to want to keep the songs locally, you can easily copy them out ofyour C:/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/ directory. Look for 1-1.6 mb swf files named Track01 through Track05. Sadly easy)
