Geek Test

In the SST forum, users are free to discuss philosophy, music, art, religion, sock colour, whatever. It's a haven from the madness of Bulldrek; alternately intellectual and mundane, this is where the controversy takes place.

Geek Test

Post by mrmooky »

If you haven't taken the test already, do it now.

I expect to see a drekker or two land a spot in the top ten.

By the way, I'm 47.33728% geek, if anyone's interested.

Based on that score I would be ranked 5th in the current top 10 but the guestbook is down so I cannot post it.

I'm in the top 20, but not the top 10. Sections like "I wear..." and "I believe..." cost me a lot of points, while "I have read..." and "I know..." I scored quite well on. Go figure. :|

Yeah. Mine's not higher because I'm a non-participatory variety of geek, and a lot of the questions were about which geeky clubs and teams you've been in.

That, and Australian high schools don't even /have/ shit like "A/V club" or whatever...

It's my blatant computer illiteracy (compared to most of you at least) that that killed me. And it's going down. I was at like 15% last time I took it.

I scored massive points all over. I also checked the five boxes at the end because not once, anywhere, did they mention anything about playing classical type instruments. Band Camp, my ass, it was ORCHESTRA CAMP! ORCHESTRA! Bwahahahahahahah

How the fruit did I make the top ten? I suppose it's my extensive knowledge on Star Trek. I own the spec manual to the Enterprise D :)

And once I have money so I can buy those movies on DVD... and I can get some pets... then I shall become dysfunctional.

I haven't seen The Fly or any Kung Fu movie before 1980 2+ times, though... I could get a few extra points quickly that way.

And if I get a sex-change operation... :D

I checked some of the extra point boxes because I feel that I should gain extra points because I built a scale replica of the Golden Gate bridge out of legos that took up the entire living room of my college dorm room.

Hmm... I didn't do too well because my TV watching is too sporadic. And I dress along the mainstream. And I don't know nearly enough compu-tech.

I'm disappointed, but only because I need more Compu-geekiness if I want to move along in my job.

And I think my Star Trek knowledge is the only thing that pushed me into Geek, instead of just tendencies.

I'm disappointed. I covered all of the movies except the Kung Fu flicks before 1980, nearly all of the TV shows, a fair amount of the music, and the majority of the books. I guess the science questions killed me, as well as some of the math geek related material. Also, I'm not a coder, so that hurt some as well. Damn.

I had 59.someodd percent, but closed the window so my daughter could take the test.

She scored 46.someodd...mostly because so much of the questions are before her time.

Uhhh... I think I did. Unless this is that new math. ;)

Most of the trivia and such is probably before my time as well -- certainly I know of most of it through re-runs and watching tapes (Beta Hi-Fi!) or, more recently, DVDs and computer rips.

The techie stuff -- well, I grew up on a computer. I was programming by around 4 or so. If you count writing shape and picture programs in Logo as programming. If not, then 6 for Basic. So... yeah. :D
