Positive Side-Effects of Gaming.

In the SST forum, users are free to discuss philosophy, music, art, religion, sock colour, whatever. It's a haven from the madness of Bulldrek; alternately intellectual and mundane, this is where the controversy takes place.

The Real Truth About Dungeons & Dragons
BADD estimated 4 million gamers worldwide (this number has increased since then), and with the average suicide rate, this means 500 gamers would commit suicide each year. As of 1987, BADD had documented an average of seven suicides of gamers a year, meaning D&D actually lowers the suicide rate (5).
If anyone has any newer statistics please post them.

Not sure what you want it for, but I found this site with a simple Google search. It seems to list alot of info, and references the material. Might be a good jump point if you are trying to research for some particular reason.

I would like to point out that at least one item is apparently in error on that site. The section on "recent attacks" claims (or at least implys) that the episode of Adventures in Odyssey was first broadcast in 1997. The originial air date was 1990.

Just in case anyone particularly cares....

Or you can always ask Jack Chick what he thinks.

If you want something a little less biased, there's a nice little inquiry into Bothered About Dungeons and Dragons by Michael A. Stackpole right here.

Edit: Actually, it's an exhaustively long inquiry, but it's all good.

Actually, it is biased. But at least it won't make you wretch, unless maybe you're Adam ;)

Well, there's a difference. Everyone has a bias. Some people tend to state those biases loud and often. (BTW, those are the people I like. :p ) The ones you have to watch out for (like most religious views) are the ones who conceal their bias, but if their bias is discovered, they attempt to make you believe that their bias is not only justified, but is the One True Bias, and all others are heretics and blasphemers.

Niiiice. :o)
One time I built a matter transporter, but things got screwed up (long story, lol) and I ended up turning into a kind of half-human, half-housefly monstrosity.
