Okay is there a way I using Windows ME that I can set a folder to have a password? If so how do I go about doing it?

Folder level password protection? Unless something changed in ME no. Because folder and file level protection is only available on an NTFS formated hard drive which means Windows NT/2K/XP. 95/98/ME are not business modle software so security is not it's cheif concern. There may be third party software that will alow you to protect and encrypt individual folders but I'm not aware of any.

It actually depends. If you're [glow]sharing [/glow]a folder on a [glow]network[/glow], then yes, you can. It's in the Sharing section of the Properties menu.
If you just want to password protect a folder from normal access, then I'm more enclined to side with Jackal

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3
Step 1: Delete WinME
Step 2: Install a real OS (that is, one that actually operates), such as Win2k, Linux or Be.
Step 3: Set folder access.

Not always an option though, for either financial or other reasons. Though I will agree that Windows (Fix) ME is a bad OS compared to others. Your best would be to go with Jackal's suggestion of third party software.

DarkMage, I suggest you take a look at the freeware PGP Disk, which allows you to reserve a bit of drivespace in the form of a file, say 500 Mb or so, which, when double-clicked, will ask you for a password. When the password is correctly entered, it'll turn itself into a whole new logical drive on your system. You can unmount the drive and close off the contents of the PGP Disk to anyone who doesn't have the password.
You can find PGP Disk here.

learn dos commands and use "attrib +h +r" onto the folder. My dos is rustier than an old slop bucket, but I think that will set it hidden from view even in Windows. or just hide the folder using the normal hide functions and set it so you can't see the hidden folders.
if this is something illigal, however, and more to the tune of "I don't want the gov. to see this" then get PGP for your system.
hrm... seems the PGP disk is no longer freeware. of well, get PGP for your entire system.

Right, I forgot all about network shares, but I had assumed that he meant on the local computer. As for PGP, never heard of it so props to Dennis. And last, about hiding files in DOS...you can go to Tools > Folder Options > View and set it to show hidden files so I wouldn't suggest trying to rely on that.
