And while i'm at it, if you declare yourself independent of the system, then you do not have any of the rights it affords you either...so take your "holier than thou rules should apply to other people and not me I know more than you" attitude and get out of our society.

What Marius just said is the long and short of it. Additionally, try to look at it this way. We elect officials, who, in turn, appoint more officials and so on and so forth. When a governing body is elected, it is also implied that the public it serves has given consent to govern in the manner the o...

The law allows you to resist an unlawful arrest. This would even apply to an illegal use of deadly force by a police officer. However, since your average citizen doesn't have a clue as to what their actual rights are, I do not advocate resisting arrest. If you resist arrest, right or wrong, you're g...

In the concern for innocents being sentenced to death, I would like to point out the following: Research shows that eye-witness testimony is the most unreliable form of "evidence" that exists. Ask 10 different people who were all standing there, and you'll get 10 very different answers. Th...

As far as I know, you have to specifically say, "Please take me off your calling list." If you just say don't call me anymore, they don't have to oblige. Then if they continue to call, they're breaking some law about phone solicitation.

Marius: 1st - We could go on for hours about this issue if we want to play a game based on semantics. Whatever legal department you have access to, I would assume, has attorneys, or soon-to-be-attorneys. Attorneys get paid to debate and argue over semantics. They told you that private citizens under...

Marius: In practice, /anybody/ can search and seize. But the constitutional limitations to search and seizure rules apply to /governmental/ intrusions into a person's rights. A private citizen does not need a warrant to do a search and seizure, nor would one be signed by a judge. As I said before, i...

Psykoguy: You're talking about the scope of a search. What you say is true to a small point. If I write a search warrant looking for pirated software, the warrant authorizes me to look in any place that pirated software is likely to be. So, if I walk in and start looking in the computer for the pira...

Search and Seizure law only applies to /governmental/ intrusion. Therefore, the 4th Amendment does not protect you against your nei...
